“Home for Christmas” will feature artistic floral designs, horticultural specimens, wreaths, topiaries, garden photography and educational exhibits. Floral designs will be judged by the National Garden Club accredited judges.
“A Taste of the Times” will present desserts such as the “Lemon in the Hole Cake” that was served at Collinsville’s Biedler Hotel in the 1800s. Four desserts will be featured along with coffee or tea. At the same time, consider purchasing the limited edition, hand-painted holiday ornaments for sale by the Friends of the Museum. The collection features a series of seasonal motifs and here’s the bonus: proceeds for the sale of the ornaments benefit the Museum. Select from several motifs—autumn and winter scenes in three sizes—small for $3, medium for $5 and large for $10.
For more information, call the Museum, located at 406 West Main, at 344-1834.

What better way to get in the holiday spirit than with a combined flower show and dessert sampling at the same time? That’s what the Collinsville Historical Museum has planned when they teamed “Home for Christmas,” the District V, Garden Clubs of Illinois Standard Flower Show, and “A Taste of the Times” with desserts from the 1800s to the present day on Nov. 7 and 8 from noon to 5 p.m. each day.
